Bastiaan van Vuuren is a versatile artist seamlessly blending his love for synthesizers, storytelling, club culture, and classical music into a unique sonic experience. Hailing from Deventer, the Netherlands, Bastiaan was introduced to music at an early age, initially through piano lessons that laid the groundwork for his later artistic endeavors. Infusing inspiration from 90s electronic music with modern techniques, he crafts a musical narrative that is both sophisticated and experimental.
Embarking on his musical journey during his teenage years, Bastiaan began experimenting with various styles and techniques, fostering an innovative mindset that has become a defining feature of his work. His music is characterized by lifelike percussive drums, intriguing deep bass designs, organic textures, and moody pads.
During his time at the Rockacademie (2018-2021) in Tilburg, Bastiaan expanded his horizons by engaging with other disciplines such as theatre, dance, and circus. This interdisciplinary approach led to collaborations and compositions for diverse projects. In 2020, he released his debut album "Two Truths" under the moniker 'Bastian Benjamin,' sparking a series of productions, including "EXIT" by Piet van Dycke, and “Solitude” by Ruben Chi.
In 2023, Bastiaan immersed himself in various projects, creating spoken-word soundtracks for Ischa den Blanken and RnB-inspired singles for XILLAN. Amidst these endeavors, he dedicated his focus to refining his club sound and developing his album under the 'Bastian Benjamin' project. This effort resulted in two club EP releases: ‘Strange Matter’ on Who’s Susan and ‘End of Line’ in collaboration with French II on Nerve Collect. His highly anticipated album is slated for release in 2024 on Who’s Susan.
